Microsoft vs. Apple

I personally enjoy PC's better.  I can better control and customize both the hardware and software.  That alone leads to me being able to have a computer that is specific to my needs as well as being able to keep it up to date for years to come.  Macs tend to go out of date quickly, and then you are forced to buy a new one.  This is most evident in the iPhones.  They haven't been out for that long...and yet, if you still owned the original, you'd feel it is obsolete.  I hear lots of Mac users say, "Yeah, well my computer is still as fast as the day I bought it."  Well so is my PC.  It's like Macs are childproof.  It's hard to mess one up so that it slows down, but at the same time, it limits you unlike a PC.
Enjoy this image of the truth about Macs.  :)  Don't laugh too hard, because it's true!  (I watered down a couple of the cuss words to keep Google Adsense happy)

  1. Macs aren't that bad when it comes to customization. You just have to break out the terminal start tweaking all the hidden settings. The only problem I have is the price.

  2. Lmao brilliant. I also like the:
MAC: Oh you're playing a game, which one?
    PC: You know...ALL OF THEM!

  3. The image really said that all. I didn't have many opportunities to work with Macs but I somehow don't mind that.

  4. I compromised on a few components in my last build so I could dual-boot it as a Hackintosh. The Apple partition's never been used.

  5. microsoft and apple both suck. there's nothing wrong with choosing one over the other.

  6. They both have their pros and cons. Macs found a good niche in media editing and I see a lot of students using them as well.

  7. Macs have a lot of programs that are industry standard: Final Cut, Pro Tools, etc etc.
However, if I can't increase my RAM or Hard drive space after the initial purchase without fear of losing $3000 of equipment, I'm not getting one.

  10. I actually set on both sides of the fence on this issue. For education a Mac can't be beat. It's simplicity for students and educators is second to none.

Also look at support. If you build your own rig with Windose who are you going to call if things go wrong? I realize if you built your own right you probably know how to fix it also, but Applecare does have much better service.

On the other side, I too enjoy my PC for what it's worth. Cheaper to build and configure with whatever I want. Plus from a gaming standpoint it still blows Mac out of the water, but Apple is slowly catching up there as well.

  24. The only purpose for a mac that I can see is for if you are doing intense graphics stuff, but most people rarely use the shit, so they are basically overpaying for the image they get from owning a mac.

  25. LOL! Macs are a joke to me. PC all the way. Linux is so-so.

  26. Macs have a lot of proprietary editing software that is actually really awesome. I made my resume on a mac, and I might have to get one of my own if I start doing game commentaries.

  35. My brother works for apple and he even knows that they are pretty overpriced for what they are. His iMac cost him (with his discount) over 1500. Mine had the same specs or slightly lower and it came up be ~550, windows 7 ultimate. I built mine, though.

  40. Google adsense doesn't like it when you swear? Or I guess you just have to put your adult filter on...

But your picture sums up my views on macs - people pay for the looks, not the performance.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Totally agree, but I think that its just a matter of different markets. The market for macs is creative types who must use a computer to be efficient and effective at their job, but probably have little understanding about how computers work and little inclination to learn. The computer is a tool and they don't care how it works as long as it does. For these people user friendliness is more important than customizability.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hom Diddly, everything you said is right on the money. Like I said, a lot of people mention that their Mac runs just as fast as the day they bought it, but that's because they child-proof the system so that it's hard to mess it up (or alter it to your personal needs). Therefore, one doesn't need to know much about a computer to run it, and so (as you said) they could care less to learn. I see it as a computer made more for the computer-illiterate type people.

    ReplyDelete
  43. And Adsense asks that you do not put "adult content" on your site, so I just try to stay away from profanity just in case.
